FAQs

  • How are you managing safety during Covid-19?

I work alone, from my purpose build shed studio in my garden with lots of space.

When you arrive, please come in through the white gate. I'll meet you in the garden at a minimum of 2m, and we can talk through anything you need me to know about your dog(s).

I'll then ask you to take your dog into the shed and close the door. Once you leave the garden, I'll go into the shed and get started.

When you come to collect your dog, we'll do the same in reverse.

For payment, I have a contactless card machine which takes up to £45; I do not accept cash at this time.

The shed is regularly steralised, and I have decreased the number of dogs I do each day to allow more time for cleaning and safe drop off/collections.

If you have any further questions, please do contact me on furologygrooming@gmail.com and I'll be happy to help.

  • How long will my appointment take?

Appointment lengths are detailed on the booking system as you choose your services, but generally range from 1-2 hours. If you have a large or matted dog, this may be longer. We'll agree a pick up time with you when you drop your dog off.

  • Can I wait with my dog?

Due to Covid-19, you cannot wait with your dog at present.

  • What if my dog has a medical condition?

Please let me know at the time of booking. If you have any questions you can contact me on furologygrooming@gmail.com before you book.

  • Can I book multiple dogs in at once?

You sure can; you'll need to book multiple appointments on the online booking system and then I'll see you all soon!

I only have dogs from the same family on site at any time, and with a secure garden outside my studio, they have plenty of space to relax until it's their turn.

  • How often should I have my dog groomed?

It depends entirely on the breed but roughly every 6-12 weeks; longer haired dogs & dogs who tend to get matted are at the shorter end of this spectrum.

It's really important your dog is groomed often enough that they don't get matted, as untangling this pulls at their skin and can be really uncomfortable for them.

I always put the comfort over the dog over aesthetics so if your dog is severely matted, I will shave them instead of brushing out all knots, which can be extremely uncomfortable for your dog.

  • When should I first have my puppy groomed?

I recommend a puppy comes for their first groom from 12 weeks old.

This appointment includes a bath, blow dry and nail clip and most importantly, gets them used to being groomed when they're still learning- and makes them much happier being groomed as adults!

  • What is hand stripping?

Hand stripping is a grooming process that involves removing dead hairs from the coat by hand instead of clipping to keep the coat tidy and healthy.

It's suitable for wirehaired breeds such as Schnauzers, Wolfhounds, Border Terriers and other similar coated breeds.

  • Is there parking? How do I find you?

Yes; please park between the garages ahead as you drive into the street, and use the white gate to the right hand side of number 5 to find our shedquarters. Your booking confirmation email will include the address as a reminder.

  • Why do I need to pay a deposit?

Life happens, and I get it. But I'm a small business, and to ensure that I don't have last minute cancellations and everyone can get an appointment to suit them, I take a small deposit which counts towards the total cost of your appointment at the time of booking.

If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours before your appointment and I'll happily re-arrange you- you can also rearrange via your booking confirmation email.

Sometimes this isn't possible and that's ok- I'll do my best to accommodate, but frequently cancelling at short notice will mean I have to keep your deposit to cover my time, and may not be able to accommodate you in future.

  • What if I've got any other questions?

Please email me at furologygrooming@gmail.com and I'll come back to you asap!

  • Why are your prices 'from £xx'?

All dogs are unique, and so I'll always confirm the final price of your groom when you drop your dog off. This is dependant on breed, size & condition of coat- a dog who needs to be fully shaved due to matting is a more expensive treatment, for example.

The price varies by £5-15 from the minimum stated on the booking system.

If you'd prefer an exact cost before booking, please email me at furologygrooming@gmail.com so I can see your dog and talk you through everything.
